Solving website issues for a
modern architecture firm

AGFD (AgFaçadesign previously) is an established architecture firm based in Singapore. They specialize in architecture design, glass façade and sustainable green technologies. Their old website looked very confusing, outdated and didn't attract the attention of visitors even though they could offers brilliant services with their broad wealth of experience. So the founder started looking for a solution. AGFD needed a fresh new design for its website to announce the opening of new office as well as their refreshed brand identity.
Visual experiences that inspire

After the first meeting with the client and going through their online portfolio I tried to summarize the firm main values:

Aesthetics — AGFD is a architecture firm deeply committed to sustainability, and a leading innovator in green building designs

Transparency — Full disclosure of the project process

Professionalism — Building spaces is a serious business that requires competence

Website information architecture design strategy

Information Architecture in web design is what guides my choices in how information is set up, arranged, and presented within a website to allow for maximum efficacy including, best website navigation/findability, usability, and the lowest bounce rate. If content is king, user experience is a big fat queen; and they live in a castle built on information architecture. If they don’t work in harmony, heads will roll.

The Façade (Homepage)

This important page ought to feel like an exhibition of curated projects. Each represented with a teaser image that stands out like a master piece.

Bold look & feel design that stands out from the competition

The overall light and exquisite feeling is created by the use of a lot of whitespace. It was important to give the images enough room to unfold their aesthetic potential without any distractions.
As architecture is all about constructed geometric lines and perspectives I aimed to counteract the strictness by using an open grid on which the pictures are able to float through the white space.

Here the transparency value finds its visualization in behind the scenes graphics and detail shots with material descriptions.
Scrolling through a project it ends with a CTA(Call to action) to the next project. This provides the visitors browse through the whole portfolio with ease.

From desktop to handheld

The new AGFD website is fully responsive, adapting to screens of all sizes and shapes, making interaction with the website uniquely enjoyable.
Revamped branding to kick off the next phase of the company

When redesigning a company's website, it often makes sense to explore updating the branding as well. For this project, this was especially important since AGFD works in a competitive industry where design is essential for being taken seriously. While the company already had solid branding, it was nearly a decade old, and it was time for a refresh.
